Northwest Improves to 3-1 in the MIAA With Victory Over SBU
Maryville, Mo. -Senior Andrea Tritz scored a goal in each half to lead the Northwest Missouri State soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Southwest Baptist today at the Bearcat Pitch.
The goals were Tritz's third and fourth goals of the season. The first goal for Tritz came in the 11th minute as she put one past goalkeeper Megan Link. Southwest would respond early in the second half however to tie the match up in the 47th minute.
Tritz would answer 30 minutes later as she put the Bearcats ahead for good in the match as she beat Emily Hamilton for the goal. Sara Meidlinger assisted on the goal.
Kira Lazenby recorded her seventh victory of the year while getting eight saves in the match, and giving up the lone goal. Southwest out-shot Northwest in the game 12-11 and had six corner kicks to Northwest's three.
Northwest (7-1, 3-1 MIAA) travels to St. Joseph on Thursday to face Missouri Western. The Bearcats defeated the Griffons back on Sept. 12 3-1 in Maryville.
