Soccer, School and My 20th Birthday
-Amanda Olah, Junior, D, Soccer
So I am sitting here on the bed at the Holiday Inn in Tahlequah, Okla., with three other soccer girls getting ready to go to bed. It is currently 12:05 a.m. and I am tired from our long drive from Maryville, which we left at 3:30 p.m. Five-and-a-half hours sleep the night before plus an early practice hasn't aided my sleeping pattern and I couldn't get to sleep early anyways.
Our game against Northeastern Oklahoma should be interesting because we played them my freshman year and it just so happens to be the game I most remember out of both years I've played so far. Hopefully it will go well even though I may not play because my back has been giving me fits. I went to the chiropractor Tuesday and I'm not feeling all that better. I know these things take time.
After today's game we head to San Antonio, Texas, for a game in the heat and humidity against St. Mary's. Of course it's this weekend that Maryville will be nice and cool.
School started this week, woohoo. I know it sounds like I am pumped but actually I am not. This semester will be difficult I can already tell with just about all business and finance classes and one class for my major which will also be difficult.
It's hard to believe I am already a junior in school when it feels like I just got here as a freshman. Boy how time flies. I have only one more year left and I feel like I have my entire lifetime left for school. By the way, I think I may just have to die after taking Business Law, not my thing at all and there are so many terms on the first page in the book it's crazy.
I also just had my 20th birthday on Saturday, which was fun - actually probably the best birthday that I have had ever. All my friends are awesome and I love them all, thanks guys!!! How crazy is my boyfriend for getting me a freaking iPod nano? I am so spoiled it's not even funny, my parents didn't even get me one, though I did get a sweet Nike watch from them, which I wear everyday now.
I never thought I would be jealous of my parents, but when they go to Germany without me it's not fair. It's good for them because my mom hasn't seen my dad since April since he has been in Afghanistan serving our country. It's all good that he's there because he really wanted to go, yet it's frustrating because I don't always know when he's safe.
That's all I have for this week. It seems like it has been a long one but we just got over Hump Day!!!! That means it's almost the weekend…not.
