Northwest at Northeastern State Preview
Maryville, Mo. -The Northwest Missouri State soccer team travels to Tahlequah, Okla., today to face Northeastern State in a match at 1 p.m. Goalkeeper Kira Lazenby leads the Bearcats into the match fresh off her program-record 10th career shutout, and MIAA Player of the Week honor.
The RiverHawks come into the match 1-1 on the year. They defeated Oklahoma Science and Arts to open their season, and then lost to Drury. Freshman Rachel Sordahl has scored three goals this year for Northeastern. The RiverHawks finished last season 7-8-4.
Northwest is 2-0 thanks to a pair of 1-0 victories last weekend at the Bearcat Classic in Maryville. Amanda Bundrant and Andrea Tritz scored the two goals, while Kelsey Sanders provided the assists. The Bearcats are looking to start the season 3-0 for the second straight year.
Northwest defeated the RiverHawks 2-0 last season. Tritz scored both goals. The first was in the seventh minute and the second in the 80th. Lazenby recorded three saves in the match to net the shutout.
