A New Year, A Different Team

Jacque Dedovesh, Sophomore, D, Soccer

I don't really know how this works. I became a blogger just this week for the women's soccer team here at Northwest. Saturday is our first big weekend of soccer fun, and we get to start off at home! Oh, by the way I'm number 18 Jacque Dedovesh, sophomore, and I play right-back defender. This preseason was unlike the first preseason I endured with Coach Hoza last year. Last year was different since we were in Colorado for the first 8 days of preseason. We stayed in hotels, went rock climbing, white water rafting, and spent a lot of time on the bus with our driver, Kevin. Needless to say, it was a lot of fun.

I am living in my own house and dealing with stress of being injured. Last year I was healthy and ready to go, but this year I strained my quad the first week and still rehabbing it back to health. At one point, all three of our defender's were out and I have never seen coach more stressed out. It seemed like our team was falling apart. One thing I've learned from this experience of being hurt is to be a leader off the field. I have never been one to be hurt, but now that I have been the last two weeks, I have learned it is good to stay positive and support the players that are healthy and can get the job done. This team of '09 is the hardest working team Northwest has ever seen and I know that our team is going to work to the end until we win conference! But the journey begins this weekend! Come and support us!!
