Northwest Sends Seniors Off with Record 10th Win
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Kira Lazenby made her first career goal and Holly Ramaeker capped her career with a goal within the final minute as Northwest Missouri State (10-8-2, 6-8-2) won it's record 10th game this season in a 2-0 victory against Southwest Baptist (9-6-3, 8-6-2).
Both teams played to a 0-0 tie in the first 45 minutes. Northwest faced a strong wind in the first half but still outshot Southwest Baptist 6-2.
Southwest Baptist committed four fouls within the first 10 minutes of the second half, with a pair at midfield to allow Lazenby make the free kicks. After her first grazed above the crossbar, her second made it past Mary Pearl in the 54th minute for her first career goal.
Kelsey Sanders' first shot of the game bounced off the crossbar with 25 seconds remaining right in front of Ramaeker who scored her seventh goal of the season and ninth of her career.
Lazenby led Northwest with six shots, all off free kicks in the second half, and recorded her eighth shutout of the season.
Northwest secured its first winning season in program history, highlighted by a pair of wins against top-10 opponents.
