UNO Steals A Win Against Northwest

Box Score

OMAHA, Neb.-Nebraska-Omaha freshman Melanie Petersen scored her first collegiate goal to help lead the 23rd-ranked Mavericks to a 1-0 win against Northwest Missouri State Saturday night at Creighton University's Morrison Stadium.

Seven minutes into the second half, Petersen stole the ball from the Bearcat defense from just outside the box and beat goalkeeper Kira Lazenby, who had fallen on the play.

The Mavericks controlled the action for much of the contest and out shot the Bearcats 14-4. All four Northwest shots came in the second half.

The game was moved to Morrison Stadium when UNO's field was determined to be unplayable due to rain.
