Northwest Works a Tie with Emporia State
EMPORIA, Kan.-Northwest Missouri State freshman Kelly Obley scored her first collegiate goal in the second half to help the Bearcats gain a 1-1 tie against Emporia State Saturday.
Obley scored an unassisted goal in the 74th minute after the Hornets (3-8-1, 1-6-1 MIAA) had taken a 1-0 lead late in the first half on a shot by Alison Germany. Obley's kick soared to the right of Hornet goalkeeper Jennifer Stillmock and into the back of the net.
Stillmock had 12 saves in the contest, five more than the number of shots attempted by her teammates. The Bearcats outshot the Hornets 34-7.
Northwest (7-4-2, 3-4-2) took seven of the eight shots taken in the two overtime periods, but couldn't post the gamewinner. Andrea Tritz had seven shots, two on goal. Three of Obley's four shots were on goal.
Up Next: Northwest begins a three-game homestand Thursday against Truman.
