Bearcats Defeat Wayne State 3-1 to Remain Undefeated
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Andrea Tritz scored in the 49th minute to become the first Bearcat to score in four consecutive games, leading Northwest to a 3-1 victory against Wayne State in the final game of the Bearcat Soccer Classic. The Bearcats extend their school-record win streak to five in their final nonconference game of the season.
Andrea Freeman scored her first goal of the season in the 36th minute unassisted as the shot made it past the goalkeeper and coasted in the net.
Tritz scored her fifth goal of the season early in the second half from Holly Ramaeker. The Wildcats would get on the board with a penalty kick by Valerie Robinson to narrow the Bearcat lead to one. But a free kick from Ramaeker would lead to another assist in the 83rd minute as Kelsey Sanders scored to provide a 3-1 Northwest lead.
Tritz led all players with six shots as Northwest out shot Wayne State 27-3. Lauren Hodgson made her first start of the season at goalkeeper, making two saves.
The Bearcats begin the MIAA schedule Thursday at Truman. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. from the Truman Soccer Park.
