Hoza Completes Soccer Class

MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State soccer coach Tracy Hoza has announced seven players she expects to be added to her opening day roster. The list includes four junior-college transfers and three freshman, bringing the total number of players in the program to 29.

Kira Lazenby (GK, Payson, Utah) and Rikki Southard (F, Council Bluffs, Iowa) played two seasons at Iowa Western Community College and redshirted at UTEP in El Paso, Texas, before transitioning to Missouri. Lazenby was a two-time, first-team All-American goalkeeper at Iowa Western. Southard was the team's leading goal scorer in 2005.

Sara Meidlinger (M/D, Omaha, Neb.) earned defensive MVP honors at College of St. Mary. She'll trade Blue and Gold for the Bearcats' green and white this fall.

Megan Pfile (M/D, Wasilla, Alaska) was a two-time all-conference pick at Iowa Central Community College. Prior to that, she earned a gold medal as a member of Team Alaska at the 2006 Arctic Winter Games.

The three first-year students expected to join the roster include Erica Hatcher (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Sarah Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) and Kelly Obley (Norwalk, Iowa). Obley is the younger sister of Krista Obley, who played in 66 games at Northwest the past four seasons.

Hatcher was a first-team all-conference pick at Fountain-Fort Carson High School as a junior when she led her team in scoring. She moved with her family to Hawaii and spent her senior year at Leilehua High School.

Jackson was a four-year starter at Oak Park High School and led her team in scoring her freshman and sophomore seasons. She was named team captain her final two years.

Obley earned honorable mention all-state honors at Norwalk High School and was named team captain as a senior. She helped lead the Warriors to three consecutive state tournaments, including a trip to the semifinals in 2007.

Northwest soccer student-athletes report in Maryville Aug. 11. The 2008 season begins Aug. 30 against Southwestern Oklahoma State in Wichita, Kan.
