Four Bearcats Earn All-MIAA Soccer Accolades
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior defender Brittany Cash earned All-MIAA Second Team honors to highlight four Northwest Missouri State soccer players gaining All-MIAA recognition. Freshman defender Amanda Olah, freshman midfielder Andrea Freeman and junior forward Amanda Deml received honorable mention nods.
Cash started every game of her Bearcat career and earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors in 2004 and 2006. She led defenders this season by playing 1,542 minutes, anchoring the Northwest defense that allowed only 171 shots from opponents - a program record.
An ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honoree, Deml led the Bearcats with five goals and four assists. She earned MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 24 after having a part in four of the five goals the week before.
Olah started in 17 of the 18 games, recording eight shots for the Bearcats. As part of the defensive unit, Olah helped Northwest post three shutouts and a 1.47 goals against average, the second lowest in school history.
The leading freshman scorer this season, Freeman scored twice for Northwest including the game-winning goal against Emporia State on Oct. 13. She was third on the team with 30 shots with 20 on goal.
