Deml Named to Academic All-District Team
MARYVILLE - Northwest Missouri State junior Amanda Deml was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women's Soccer Third Team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America. She is the first Bearcat selected to any women's soccer Academic All-District team in school history.
Deml maintains a 3.82 grade point average in recreation and parks management. She led the Bearcats this season with five goals and four assists, moving into a tie for sixth in school career records with eight goals and a tie for fourth with six career assists. She earned MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 24 after scoring twice against Emporia State on Sept. 21 and scoring against Wayne (Neb.) State on Sept. 18.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by their sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
