Bearcat Soccer Ties Washburn on the Road
TOPEKA, Kan. - (Box Score) A goal in the 58th minute from Marti Trummer tied the game at 1-1 and would be the end of scoring both teams as Northwest Missouri State soccer notched its first tie of the season at Washburn tonight from Yager Stadium at Moore Bowl.
The Bearcats (3-9-1, 2-6-1 MIAA) held the Lady Blues scoreless in the first half, allowing Washburn only one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes off of eight total shots.
Danielle Ayala scored her fifth goal of the season in the 50th minute off an assist from Traci Nigg. Trummer answered back eight minutes later, scoring from 15 yards off a Holly Ramaeker assist. Both teams only combined for three shots from that point to the end of the second half in the cool and sometimes rainy conditions at Topeka, sending Northwest to it's second overtime game of the season.
Ramaeker recorded the only shot of either overtime period in the 106th minute of play on a header attempt, but a save from Washburn keeper Jenny Parsons prevented a Northwest win.
Ramaeker led the Bearcats with three shots, recording two of the team's three shots on goal.
Northwest continues action tomorrow, traveling to Emporia State for a 7 p.m. game.
