Bearcats Take No. 6 Central Missouri to Double Overtime in 2-1 Loss
MARYVILLE - (Box Score) Marti Trummer scored in the 77th minute to force overtime against No. 6 Central Missouri, but Kylee Schuhler scored for the Jennies in the 107th minute as Northwest Missouri State soccer fell 2-1 at Bearcat Pitch this afternoon.
Northwest is now 3-7 and 2-4 in MIAA action while Central Missouri improves to 8-1-2 and 6-0-1 in conference play.
Hazel Cox put Central Missouri up early in the 11th minute, scoring unassisted. The score remained 1-0 for the Jennies at half. Northwest outshot Central Missouri 6-5 in the first stanza, including a 4-1 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Trummer scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Amy Jackson to tie the score late in the second half. The Bearcats outshot the Jennies 4-2 in the final three minutes of regulation, but couldn't put a goal in as Northwest went to its first overtime game of the season.
Northwest had two shots in the first overtime period, but Central Missouri recorded all four shots of the second overtime, using a goal from Schuhuler at 106:23 to pull the win.
Krista Obley led the Bearcats with four shots as eight starters recorded a shot for Northwest. Lauren Hodgson made three saves.
Northwest travels to Truman on Oct. 3 for a 2 p.m. game.
