Amanda Deml Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Northwest Missouri State soccer student-athlete Amanda Deml earned her first MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honor, announced today by league offices. It's the first such honor for a Bearcat since Kayla Griffin earned the award on Oct. 9, 2006.
Deml had a part in four of five Bearcat goals last week. She scored twice and provided an assist against Emporia State on Sept. 21, recording her first career game-winning goal. Her five points against the Hornets is the fourth-best mark in a single game in school history. The two goals in a single game was the first by a Bearcat athlete since Oct. 7, 2006 by Kayla Griffin.
Against Wayne (Neb.) State on Sept. 18, she scored in the 10th minute, the earliest Northwest goal since Nov. 1, 2005.
She is tied for seventh in career goals with six, tied for fifth in career assists with five and sits eighth in career shots with 76.
Deml will join the rest of her teammates on Sept. 28 against Missouri Western. Start time from Bearcat Pitch is 2 p.m.
