Northwest Soccer Announces 2007 Schedule

MARYVILLE - (schedule) The Northwest Missouri State soccer program and head coach Tracy Hoza have announced the 2007 soccer schedule, featuring four straight matches at home and the first Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association tournament. The Bearcats are coming off of their most successful season in school history, going 9-9-1.

"We are excited to play some new teams this year but one of the most important and exciting aspects of our conference schedule is that we are having a conference playoff for the first time ever," Hoza said. "Our goal is to be participants in the playoffs."

The Bearcats will open the season at Upper Iowa on Aug. 24 in a 5 p.m. match with the Peacocks. Northwest will then host St. Cloud (Minn.) State on Aug. 31 and Wayne (Neb.) State at Sept. 2. Those two schools will play each other in a neutral site game on Sept. 1 at Bearcat Pitch.

A trip to Northeastern (Okla.) State on Sept. 9 will close out the non-conference schedule. Northwest opens MIAA play on the weekend of Sept. 14-15 at Southwest Baptist and Missouri Southern, respectively.

The following weekend will begin a four-match home stretch for the Bearcats, welcoming Emporia State on Sept. 21 and defending MIAA champion Washburn on Sept. 22. Missouri Western and Central Missouri travel to Maryville on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29, respectfully, to close out the home stand.

Northwest faces Truman twice within four days, traveling to Kirksville, Mo., on Oct. 3 and welcoming the Bulldogs on Oct. 7. A swing through Kansas on Oct. 12-13 will see trips to Washburn and Emporia State, both in night matches starting at 7 p.m.

The Bearcats will close out the home schedule on Oct. 19-20 against Missouri Southern and Southwest Baptist. The regular season will end the next weekend against Central Missouri on Oct. 26 and Missouri Western on Oct. 27.

The inaugural MIAA Soccer Tournament begins on Nov. 3-4, with the top four teams in regular season standings advancing. The top team after regular-season play will host the two-day event.
