Northwest Soccer Signs Two Additional Athletes for 2007
MARYVILLE - Northwest Missouri State head women's soccer coach Tracy Hoza has announced the signing of two athletes to National Letters of Intent: Hannah Groom (Overland Park, Kan.) and Amanda Olah (El Cajon, Calif.).
Groom is a two-year letter winner at Shawnee Mission West and served as captain in her senior season. She was a member of the 2005 and 2006 squads that finished runner-up in the Kansas 6A Championships, earning 6A Northeast Regional and Sunflower League titles in that span.
She is a member of the KC Strikers club team and was named the University of Kansas Summer Camp MVP. Groom was named a Kansas City Star Scholar Athlete, earning honor roll accolades and academic letters all four years. Her father, Rex Groom, played football for the Bearcats from 1974-77.
"Hannah Groom is a very athletic and aggressive goalkeeper," Hoza said. "She is a very hard worker with a lot of natural ability to succeed in the collegiate environment."
Olah earned nine varsity letters during four years in three sports at Granite Hills High School, earning four letters in soccer and track and one in cross country. She was named to the San Diego County All-Academic Team in soccer and track in from 2005-07 and was a finalist for the GHHS Sophomore Female Athlete of the Year in the 2004-05 academic year.
She was a member of teams that were San Diego County California Interscholastic Federation finalists from 2003-07, winning the title in the 2004-05 season. Olah earned all-county second team honors for the 2004-05 season and All-Conference Grossmont League honors in 2004-05 and 2006-07.
"Amanda Olah is a strong and technical athlete," Hoza said. "She enjoys dribbling forward and taking players on."
Groom and Olah become the fourth and fifth student-athletes in the 2007 Northwest soccer signing class.
