Bearcats Drop Conference Opener in Double Overtime
MARYVILLE, Mo. - (L 0-1 2OT) A goal in the 106th minute by Southwest Baptist ended a Northwest three-match win streak, as the green Bearcats fell 0-1 in double overtime. The match marked the conference opener for Northwest and its first overtime match this season. Northwest stands 4-2 on the season, and 0-1 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).
Northwest out-shot Southwest Baptist 8-1 in the second half and 14-9 overall. Southwest recorded two shots on goal within the first 21 minutes of play, before using its third shot to score the game-winning goal. Ann Meenagh of Southwest Baptist scored at 105:46, assisted by Stephanie Lusardi.
Sophomore Holly Ramaeker led all players with four shots and three shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Alison Sheridan recorded two saves on nine shots.
Northwest will continue MIAA action tomorrow, welcoming Missouri Southern at 2:00 p.m. The match will end a five-match home stretch by Northwest.
