Northwest Soccer Ranked Eighth in NSCAA/adidas Central Region Poll
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State soccer sits eighth in the latest Central Region poll, released today by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and adidas. The ranking marks the first recorded regional recognition in school history for the Bearcat soccer team.
Northwest picked up its third straight victory against Upper Iowa on Sept. 9, handing the Bearcats their longest winning streak in school history. Shutout victories against Augustana (S.D.) on Sept. 4 and Upper Iowa on Sept. 9 provided Northwest their first consecutive shutout victories since 2000.
Defending national champion Nebraska-Omaha holds the No. 1 position in both the Central Region and national polls. Five Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) teams made it into the top-ten regional poll.
The Bearcats will be in action on Fri., Sept. 15, welcoming Southwest Baptist for a 2:00 p.m. match. Southwest Baptist dropped out of regional rankings, after being named No. 7 in the Sept. 5 poll. Northwest will take on Missouri Southern the following the day (Sept. 16) at 2:00 p.m. Missouri Southern earned the sixth spot in this week's regional rankings.
