Northwest Defeats Concordia-St. Paul 4-1
MARYVILLE, Mo. - (W 4-1) Northwest Missouri State soccer recorded their largest margin of victory in a home season opener at Bearcat Pitch, defeating Concordia-St. Paul 4-1 this afternoon. The Bearcats improve to 2-1 on the season and 4-4 in home opening matches.
Junior defender Krista Obley put Northwest on the board first with her second season goal in the 17th minute of play. Obley scored off a corner kick from senior midfielder Jamie Campbell, who recorded her first season goal in the 19th minute of the first half. Sophomore midfielder Holly Raemeker scored at 75:20, and sophomore midfielder Shannon FitzGerald scored her first career unassisted goal four minutes later in the 80th minute.
Sophomore forward Amanda Deml led the team in shots, shooting three times with two shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Alison Sheridan played her second complete game of the season, recording two saves.
Concordia-St. Paul's Katie Johnson recorded the only goal for the Golden Bears' today, putting on in at 71:04 in the second half. Johnson led all player with six shots, including three on goal.
The Bearcats will welcome Augustana (S.D.) on Mon., Sept. 4, at 2:00 p.m. It will mark the second match of the five-match home stretch.
