Bearcats End Season With 4-0 Loss at Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State soccer ended its 2005 season with a 4-0 loss at Missouri Southern this afternoon in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) action. Northwest concludes with a 5-8-5 overall record and a 4-6-4 mark in the MIAA.

Missouri Southern, who improves to 11-5-4 overall and 7-3-4 in the league, scored in the 35th minute on a marker by Nikki Llewellyn. The Lions added goals by three different players, all in the second half, to avenge a 1-0 Northwest win on Oct. 15 in Maryville. The Northwest win over the 21st-ranked Lions in October was the first over a ranked opponent in school history.

The Bearcats held a 14-11 shot advantage including a 11-6 margin in the second frame.

Junior goaltender Alison Sheridan took the loss in 70-plus minutes of play as she totaled four saves. Senior Michelle Goold relieved Sheridan allowing two goals. Kaney Tyler picked up the MSSU win in the net saving nine Northwest attempts on goal.

Missouri Southern was ranked sixth in the Central Region (Nov. 1).
