The 'Cats Went into Eighth Double Overtime Game of the Season 1-1 With Central Missouri State During Last Home Game
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Bearcats hosted the last game of the 2005 season against Central Missouri State this afternoon. The 'Cats end with a winning record at home 4-3-2. After Northwest lost to Central Missouri at their place on Sept. 16, 3-1, the 'Cats came into the game looking for a win but ended with their eighth double overtime of the season putting the Bearcats one shy from setting the NCAA record for overtimes in a season.
Central Missouri's first goal was a quick score coming off of defense on the other end of the field. The Jennies scored at 4:07 by Josie Van Well with an assist by Kelsi Ginavin.
Northwest quickly answered the goal at 8:41 with Sarah Hobson's second goal of the season. Hobson scored off a rebound from Jamie Campbell's first attempt to score that hit off the cross bar. Freshman Sarah Leventhal accounted for an assist by getting the ball into the scoring zone.
The game stayed tied 1-1 for the remaining of the first and second half. The 'Cats went into their eighth overtime setting a new school record. Northwest's record accounts 4-7-4 overall and 3-5-4 ending the 'Cats games at home in a double overtime.
The Bearcats will play at Southwest Baptist on Nov. 5 and end their season against Missouri Southern on Nov. 6.
