Northwest Ties With Top Ranked Team in MIAA Washburn 1-1
Maryville, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State ties their seventh double overtime at home this afternoon. The 'Cats set a new school record for the most double overtimes in a season today, tieing with Washburn 1-1. Northwest also tied the record for the most overtimes throughout a season with seven.
The Bearcats got off to a slow start against the top ranked team in the MIAA Washburn. The first half remained scoreless with the 'Cats only having three shot attempts. Junior Alison Sheridan had seven saves in the first half against Washburn's 24 total. Sheridan ended with 11 saves stopping the Lady Blues with only one goal.
The Lady Blues took the first goal at the 52nd minute. Northwest tied the game at 86:03 with a goal attempt by Kayla Griffin that rolled by the goalie as the two collided and made it into the goal zone. Griffin tallies her sixth goal of the season. The Bearcat's Margaret Trummer attempted two times with 20 seconds left to give the 'Cats the lead but the goalie stopped them leaving the score 1-1 in double overtime.
The Bearcats will be hosting Truman state at home on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
