Northwest Drops in Double Overtime To Emporia 3-2
Emporia, Kan. - The Northwest Missouri State soccer team dropped its soccer match this afternoon against Emporia State, 3-2 in double overtime.
The Bearcats were led by junior Kayla Griffin (Lee's Summit, Mo.), who scored both goals for Northwest at 20:06 and 68:02 which also make it her second and third goals of the season. Both of Griffin's goals were assisted by sophomore Brittany Cash (Kansas City, Mo.)
Emporia State ended Northwest's two goal streak in the 74th minute by Mary Beth Cleary. The 'Cats remained scoreless in both overtimes allowing Emporia to score two goals in the 82nd minute and scoring the game winning goal in double overtime at the 102nd minute to finalize the score 3-2.
The Bearcats will face Missouri Western on Oct. 1 starting at 2 p.m. Northwest will not return home until Oct. 15 vs. Missouri Southern.
