Northwest Ends 9-Game losing Streak to Third in the Conference Missouri Southern 2-1
Maryville, Mo. - Norhtwest Missouri State soccer hosted, number three in the conference, Missouri Southern this afternoon at 3 pm. The 'Cats, after a 9 game losing streak, captured the win 2-1. This puts the Bearcats with a 3-14 record.
Freshman Lindsay Jones tallies her first ever Northwest goal in the first 25 minutes of the game as it sneaks over the goalies head.
Missouri Southern tries to reply back with a goal in the 34th minute but Official ruling called it offsides before the goal was accounted for.
The 'Cats worked their offense down the field as sophomore Beth Gutschenritter assisted Senior Heather Kolbo's first goal of the season. The cross kick assist managed to place Kolbo in the position to score off of a header.
Northwest's defense was impecible this afternoon with only allowing 9 shots and one goal from Erin Gfeller in the 63rd minute. The Bearcat's goal-keeper Allison Sheridan had 4 saves in today's game and only allowing the single goal.
The Bearcats will host their last home game on Nov. 2 at 3 p.m.(Senior night). Before that the 'Cats will face Rockhurst on Oct. 30 at 2 p.m.
