Bearcats fall at Washburn, 1-2
TOPEKA, Kan. - Northwest Missouri State lost to Washburn University this afternoon, 1-2. The 'Cats overall record falls to 2-8-0 and 1-5-0 in the MIAA. Washburn improves to 3-5-0 and 1-4 in the MIAA.
Freshmean defender Tracy Sacco scored in the last minutes of the game to cut the deficit to one goal. It was Sacco's second goal of the season, tying her for second on the team in goals scored.
Freshman forward Margaret Trummer put a shot on goal late but it was unsuccessful as the 'Cats dropped the MIAA affair.
Sophomore forward Beth Guschenritter and Trummer together had 12 shots on goal with Gutschenritter recording nine. The tandem led the Bearcats to a huge advantage in shots on goal at 25-7.
Goalkeeper Michelle Goold got her first start as she took the loss compiling two saves.
The 'Cats will move ahead to Nebraska-Omha Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. The next home appearance will be Oct. 9 against Emporia State and Oct. 10 vs. Truman State. Both matches begin at 1 p.m.
