'Cats Fall 1-0 to Winona State

WINONA, Minn . - Northwest Missouri State and Winona State (Minn.) played scoreless soccer until the ball glanced off a Northwest defender into the net at the 71:55 mark. That mark proved to be the difference as Northwest dropped a 1-0 non-conference match at Maxwell Field.

The Warriors, who were picked to take the league title in the Northern Sun, out-shot the 'Cats 23-7 including a 14-4 edge in the second half. Tiffany Robertson led all Northwest players with two shots on the day.

A total of 28 fouls were whistled between the two clubs with 18 going against Winona State.

The loss drops Northwest to 0-2 on the season. It will stay on the road to face Missouri Southern, Sept. 4, to open up league action. Emporia State (Kan.) will then host the 'Cats, Sept. 5.
