'Cats Fall to Hornets, 4-1
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State women's soccer team fell to Emporia State, 4-1 on Sunday in Emporia.
The beginning of the first half was slow paced as both teams tried to find away to score. Midway through the first half Emporia found the back of the net three times in a span of three minutes to take a commanding, 3-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Northwest scored off of a free kick when Katie Flower (Jr., Blackjack, Mo.) crossed the ball to Carlie Hoskins (So., Kansas City, Mo.) who was cutting to the goal. Hoskins kicked the ball into the right corner to cut the the Hornets lead down to two. But that was all the Bearcats could get as the Hornets added one more goal, and went on beat the'Cats, 4-1.
Northwest's record falls to 2-8-3 overall and 1-4-3 in the MIAA. The Bearcats will end a four-game road trip on Wednesday as they will travel to Southwest Baptist. Following that they will host Central Missouri State on Friday at Bearcat Pitch.
