Cross Signs Four to 'Cat Soccer Program

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University head women's soccer coach Tracy Cross has announced the signing of four student-athletes to national letters-of-intent.

Amy Jackson (Urbandale, Iowa), Megan Kruger (Blue Springs, Mo.), Emily Perkins (West Des Moines, Iowa) and Jessie Siemers (Omaha, Neb.) will all be freshmen at Northwest this fall.

Jackson, a 5-foot, 2-inch defender, serves as a team captain for Urbandale High School. She was al All-State Honorable Mention selection in 2002. Jackson played on Urbandale's 2002 state championship team and has been a part of back-to-back conference championship teams in 2001 and 2002. She plays for the Urbandale Premier club team and has been part of the Iowa State Olympic Development Program for two years.

"Amy is an intelligent defender with an apt sense of timing her tackles," Cross said.

Kruger 5-5 midfielder. She has been a four-year starter for Blue Springs High School. In addition, she has played for six years with the Avellino Glory club teams.

"Megan's strength is her ability to set other players up for the attack," Cross said.

Perkins, a 5-6 midfielder/forward, was a second-team all-conference selection last season for Valley High School and served as a team captain her senior season. She also played on a conference championship team as a sophomore in 2001. Perkins was in the Iowa State Olympic Development Program for one year. She plays club soccer for Urbandale Premier.

"Emily is a very skilled player, with tremendous field vision, " Cross said.

Siemers is a 5-6 midfielder. She has helped lead Westside High School to the Nebraska A State Championship game for three consecutive seasons. She is also a standout in the classroom, earning her school's most distinguished scholar athlete award.

"Jessie likes to run at players and will add a lot of energy to our team," Cross said.

Northwest opens its 2003 season August 23 at Augustana.
