Cross To Take Over Bearcat Soccer Program
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Boerigter has announced the hiring of Tracy Cross as the Bearcats' new head women's soccer coach.
"We very excited to have Tracy join our staff," Boreigter said. "Her wealth of experience and knowledge of soccer should serve the Bearcat women's soccer program well in the years to come."
Cross came to Northwest from Toledo (Ohio) University. She was an assistant with the NCAA Division I program for the past two seasons. During her two years with the Rockets, they compiled a 14-18-3 record.
Prior to her time at Toledo, Cross was the assistant coach at Lock Haven University, where she helped the Lady Eagles to a 32-6-3 mark in two seasons. Lock Haven won a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships while Cross was an assistant. Lock Haven advanced to the 1999 NCAA Division II Sweet 16 and to the 2000 NCAA Division II Elite Eight during Cross' tenure as an assistant.
A 1995 graduate of Mercyhurst, Cross was a four-year letterwinner for the Lakers during her collegiate career. The Limerick, Ireland native earned NSCAA All-America honors in 1994 and 1995. Cross was a three-time All-Midwest Region honoree and captained the Lakers' 1994 NCAA Division II Final Four team. She also played for the Irish Junior and Senior National Teams from 1987-1991.
Cross holds her undergraduate degree from Merchurst in sports medicine. She received her master's in liberal arts from Lock Haven.
Cross will begin her duties at Northwest on Monday (January 13).
