Bulldogs Hand 'Cats Second Straight Loss
DULUTH, Minn. - The Northwest Missouri State's Women's Soccer team dropped their second straight game with a 4-0 loss to Minnesota-Duluth on Sunday at Ordean Field. This marks the first game of the season that the Bearcats have been shut-out.
Northwest was overpowered by the Bulldog offense that saw them collect 34 shots, 18 on goal, while the 'Cats could only must four shots, two on goal. The Bearcats managed to keep the game close, as they allowed only one goal towards the end of the first half. Nicole Fietz gave Duluth the 1-0 lead in the 36th minute.
With the game still in their reach, the Bearcats couldn't find their offensive game and saw the game get away from them. The 'Cats surrender three goals in the second half, two to Pam Lensing and one to Sarah Noonan.
The only scoring opportunities for Northwest came in the first half from Jennifer Gnefkow (Sr., Raymore, Mo.) and Christine Collins (Jr., Council Bluffs, Iowa). Starting goalkeeper Danielle Lawless (Soph., Denison, Iowa) was taken out of the game just 33 minutes in, but made three saves before being removed. Backup goalkeeper Michelle Goold (Fr., Independence, Mo.) allowed four goals, while making 11 saves.
The Bearcats, now 1-3, open up conference season on Friday in Maryville. The 'Cats host Southwest Baptist a 2 pm at Bearcat Pitch.
