Bearcat Soccer Adds Five Recruits

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University head soccer coach Tracy Cross has announced the signing of five student-athletes to national letters-of-intent. All five of the new Bearcats will be freshmen at Northwest this fall.

Lindsey Jones, 5-8, Midfielder, Liberty, Mo.
Liberty High School
High School - Three-year varsity letterwinner for Liberty High School ... Served as co-captain of her high school team in 2004 ... Led Liberty to a district and sectional championship in each of the past two seasons ... Played club soccer for the KC United ... Also a standout high school basketball player.
Coach Cross Says - "Lindsey is a strong center defender/midfielder. She is instictively skillful when it comes to defending. She is a very sound, technical player. Lindsey is a leader both on and off the field."

Krista Obley, 5-9, Midfielder, Norwalk, Iowa
Norwalk High School
High School - Named First-Team All-Iowa as a junior in 2003 ... Named to the Iowa High School Girls State All-Tournament team in 2003 ... Earned honorable mention all-state honors as a sophomore ... Earned first-team all-conference honors as a freshman ... Two-time second-team all-conference selection ... Has been a member of the Iowa United and Des Moines Menace Youth Academy for seven years ... Played on the iowa Olympic Development team in 1998 and 1999.
Coach Cross Says - "Krista has tremendous field vision and technical ability. She is very comfortable on the ball and likes to go forward with every opportunity. Krista has also participated in the Iowa State Olympic Development Program and will join former teammate Erica Sunde at Northwest."

Tracy Sacco, 5-7, Defender, Omaha, Neb.
Westside High School
High School - Helped lead her Westside High School team to district championships in 2002 and 2003 ... Played for state quarterfinal team as a junior in 2003 and a state runner-up squad in 2002 ... Member of the National Honor Society ... Plays club soccer for the West Omaha Gladiators ... Helped lead her club team to three straight league and Nebraska State Cup championships.
Coach Cross Says - "Tracy has a very strong physical presence in the center of the field. She reads the game well. She is a very competitive player and enjoys attacking when in possession of the ball. Tracy comes from a very competitive soccer background and will join former West Omaha Gladiators teammate Beth Gutschenritter, who will be a sophomore for us in the fall."

Emily Shelor, 5-4, Defender/Midfielder, Raytown, Mo.
Raytown High School
High School - Serves as captain of her club team, the Legacy ... Has won two Kansas state championshps in club soccer ... Member of the Missouri Olympic Development program in 2002 and 2003 ... Named a first-team all-conference selection and was a varsity starter as a sophomore.
Coach Cross Says - "Emily is a talented overall soccer player. She has the technical, tactical and physical ability that allows her to dominate on the outside of the field from either a defensive or attacking role. Her experience playing with the Missouri Olympic Development Program team should serve her well in her transition to college soccer."

Erica Sunde, 5-6, Midfielder/Forward, Grimes, Iowa
Dallas Center-Grimes High School
High School - Named varsity captain as a junior at Dallas Center-Grimes High School ... Earned all-state honorable mention in 2002 and 2003 ... Two-time all-conference player ... Led her high school team to the regional finals ... Played on a Six-time State Cup Championship club team (West Des Moines Soccer Club) ... Five-year member of the Iowa Olympic Developmental Program team ... Standout cross country athlete and basketball player as well.
Coach Cross Says - "Erica is probably one of the hardest working athletes I have come across during my recruiting this year. She is a very determined soccer player and enjoys a competitive challenge. She has a wealth of playing experience and we look forward to her years as a Bearcat."
