Jennies Hand Bearcats Fourth Straight Loss
WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State's Women's Soccer team lost its fourth consecutive game Tuesday as they fell to Central Missouri State, 3-0. The 'Cats were held scoreless for the ninth time this season, the third time in the last four games.
The Jennies dominated the game from the whistle. The 'Cats played good defense, allowing only one goal in the first half of the game, a goal that was shot high in the air and defleted in off the foot of Bearcat defender Keri Schweigel (Soph., Olathe, Kan.). For the Bearcats, Renee Judd (Jr., Pukalani, Haw.) got the only shot of the game off in the first half, only to see it sail wide of the net.
Central took control of the game in the second half as well, only seeing action on the defensive end for shot periods of time, but for the most part they were on offense. Kathie Leach (Sr., Lincoln, Neb.) made six saves in the second half to keep the game in reach, but allowed two late goals in the last ten minutes of the game to secure the victory for the Jennies. Overall, Leach made twelve saves in the game.
The Bearcats record falls to 4-11-1 overall and 2-7-1 in conference. The 'Cats take on Southwest Baptist on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Bearcat Pitch. The 'Cats took the first meeting of the season between the two teams by a score of 2-0 that ended Baptist's six game winning streak.
