MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University head women's soccer coach Joann Wolf has announced the signing of two student athletes to national letters-of-intent.
Anne Clasen (Defiance, Mo.) and Raheema Qureshi (Sedalia, Mo.) will join the Bearcat soccer program next fall.
Clasen, a 5-6 defender, will transfer to Northwest from Missouri Baptist College. Clasen was a starting defender for Missouri Baptist as a freshman last season. Clasen is a graduate of St. Dominic High School in O'Fallon, Mo. She was a four-year letterwinner for St. Dominic and helped lead her team to a district championship in 1998. Clasen was also a standout cross country runner in high school.
"Anne will bring us some experience and speed at the defender position as a sophomore transfer," Wolf said. "She is also able to fill in at many different positions.
Qureshi, 5-7 midfielder, will be a freshman at Northwest in the fall. She is a graduate of Sedalia Smith-Cotton High School. She is a four-year letterwinner. Qureshi was an all-district and all-conference selection as a junior, while earning honorable mention all-conference accolades as a sophomore.
"Raheema will give the needed help in the midfield with a strong shot and excellent passing ability," Wolf said. "Her ball skills will give us options in the midfield."
