Every year during the month of February, Northwest Missouri State athletics hosts a special clinic for area youth in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The Northwest womens teams, Bearcat Steppers, and Bearcat Cheeleaders each instruct clinic participants in the basic fundamentals related to their sport.

The event is free and open to any members of the public. Boys and girls ages 4-10 get one-on-one interaction with athletes, free food, goodie bags, and prizes. Pre-registered participants receive a free ticket to the women's basketball game and t-shirt. The goal is to increase visibility among the community of our women's sports including cheer and dance, while promoting healthy active lifestyles and increase attendance at those sports. Midnight Madness

Assistant coaches sumo! The Northwest Missouri State men's and women's basketball programs hold an annual Midnight Madness event in Bearcat Arena. Midnight Madness offers a chance for students and the community to meet and greet both the Northwest men’s and women’s basketball teams. The event gets the fans ready for the basketball season, introducing both the teams in an exciting late-night event.

Admission is FREE and open to the public, and FREE pizza and drinks are provided all night. Fans will enjoy an autograph session, a slam dunk contest, performances by the Bearcat Steppers and Cheerleaders, and a dance competiton by the teams themselves!

Northwest students have the opportunity to compete in contests and participate in several drawings and competitions with combined winnings totaling over $10,000 in cash, prizes, and aladine (campus meal) plans. There is plenty of free stuff to take home as well. This year, a fan had the opportunity to walk away with $10,000 by simply bowling a strike...she knocked down 6!
