Bearcat Tennis ITA Regional Championship UpdateUpdated Tournament Brackets
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State tennis team competed at the 2013 USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Springfield, Mo., on Friday. The event is being hosted by MIAA member Southwest Baptist.
The Bearcat men's team will enter day two with four entries still alive in the men's singles draw with Lluis Altimires, Julien Couronne, Alvaro Riveras and Sergio De Vilchez all advancing through the first two rounds of play. De Vilchez enters the championship ranked second, Altimires was ranked eighth and Riveras was ranked 14th. On the doubles side, the top seeded team of De Vilchez and Altimires advanced to the fourth round with a win over Chance Joost and Bobby Florence of Washburn.
On the women's side of the draw, Stephanie Mannix and Alexis Baratek each won their first round matches in the women's singles draw but were unable to advance to the third rounds.
The final day of competition takes place tomorrow in Springfield. The ITA National Championship tournament will be held on Oct. 10 in Fort Myers, Fla.
