Riveros named MIAA Player of the Week

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State’s Alvaro Riveros was named MIAA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Monday announced by the league.

Riveros improved to 4-0 on the season with a dominating 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles. Riveros also claimed a No. 3 doubles win to help the Bearcats roll past UMSL 8-1. Riveros is also 3-1 on the season in doubles action as Northwest has won its last two matches, both over top 10 regional teams. The 6-1 freshman is a native of Heredia, Costa Rica where he attended Santa Cecilia High School.

The 25th-ranked Northwest men’s tennis team returns to action March 7 when the Bearcats host Missouri Valley at 2:30 p.m. The Bearcats are 3-1 on the season and coming off a win over 17th-ranked Drury last weekend.
