Bearcats hold of Lions, 9-1
TULSA, Okla. – The Northwest Missouri State men’s tennis team won its second in a row helping head coach Mark Rosewell move closer to win number 900, with an 8-1 victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith at La Fortune Park on Friday evening.
Northwest moved to 10-3 on the year as the 26th-ranked Bearcats return to action on Saturday with a chance to help coach Rosewell claim No. 900. Rosewell has 897 wins for his career as the men face Newman and Dallas Baptist on Saturday.
The Bearcats swept three tough doubles matches to take a lead heading into singles play.
With wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles the Bearcats clinched the victory after Calvin Patterson dropped his match at No. 1 singles. Patterson fell 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 before the Bearcats picked up their 10th-win of the season.
The Bearcats start action on Saturday at 9 a.m. with Newman before closing out the day at 2 p.m. with Dallas Baptist.
