Northwest falls to No. 6 Abilene Christian
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State men’s tennis team fell for only the second time all season to national power Abilene Christian 7-2 Tuesday at the Plaza Country Club Tennis Complex.
The Bearcats, ranked 42nd in the latest ITA tennis rankings, fell to 6-2 on the year while ACU, the 6th-ranked team in NCAA Division II moved to 10-6 on the season. Northwest continues its spring break road trip Saturday as it will head south playing three matches in three days.
The Wildcats took the early 2-0 lead after doubles as Northwest took No. 3 doubles 9-8 with the duo of Calvin Patterson and Luis Altimires.
The Bearcats would only pick up one more win at the No. 5 singles position and Jason Harris winning 6-3, 6-1.
ACU boasted the No. 6 singles player Hans Hach who took a 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 1 singles and No. 43 singles player in Alfredo Desiati. The Bearcats’ Guilherme Narducci would push Desiati at No. 4 singles before falling 7-5, 6-4.
