Northwest rolls past Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa – The No. 42 Northwest Missouri State Bearcats stayed perfect on the season as they cruised to a 9-0 win over Graceland Tuesday evening in non-conference men’s tennis action.

The Bearcats improved to 5-0 on the year while head coach Mark Rosewell inches closer to win No. 900 as has now won 890 games at Northwest. Rosewell and the Bearcat men’s and women’s teams will have two chances this weekend to move closer to the impressive mark as they host regional power Cameron on Thursday and national power Drury on Saturday.

Northwest took three quick wins in doubles as Jose Ortega and Mario Jakovljevic won 8-3 while Rafael Bugiga and Guilherme Narducci took their doubles match by the same, 8-3 score.

Calvin Patterson and Luis Altimires had an even easier time winning 8-0 to give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead after doubles play.

The Bearcats would go on to sweep all six singles matches to bring home their fifth straight win.
