Northwest downs Rockhurst 7-2
Maryville, Mo.-The 18th-ranked Northwest Missouri State men's tennis team won a showdown of ranked teams on Wednesday afternoon as the Bearcats defeated No. 35 Rockhurst 7-2 from the Frank Grube Tennis Courts.
Northwest (16-4) won two-of-three doubles matches on Wednesday. The team of Malcolm Harrison and Daniel Quesada won their match 8-6. While the duo of Philip Hultquist and Giovanni Auricchio won their doubles matchup 8-3.
Northwest also won all but one singles match on the day. Malcolm Harrison won his match easily 6-2 and 6-0. Calvin Patterson and Vijit Sehgal were the other Bearcats to win in straight sets. Patterson won 6-4 and 6-2 while Sehgal won his meeting 6-4, 7-6.
Quesada and Auricchio also were victorious in singles play. Quesada won his matchup 2-6, 6-2 and 6-2. Auricchio won 3-6, 6-2 and 6-1.
Northwest returns to action this Friday as the Bearcats play a pair of matches in Bolivar, Mo. Northwest will face Lindenwood at 1 p.m. and will meet Graceland at 5.
