Northwest defeats nationally-ranked Incarnate Word
LAWTON, Okla.-The Northwest Missouri State men's tennis squad found its winning ways again on Saturday as the Bearcats defeated nationally-ranked Incarnate Word 5-2.
Calvin Patterson won the match-clinching matchup when he defeated Incarnate Word's Chris Lawson 5-7, 6-3 and 6-4 to give Northwest the fifth point of the match. Patterson improved his record to 14-4 on the spring with the win.
Malcolm Harrison got Northwest's other singles point. Harrison won 6-2 and 7-6 a day after losing his first match of the season.
The Bearcats swept the doubles portion of the match with Incarnate Word. The team of Patterson and Vijit Sehgal won 8-4. The teams of Harrison and Daniel Quesada and Giovanni Auricchio and Philip Hultquist each won their doubles matches 8-6.
Northwest returns to action on Wednesday when they host Rockhurst.
