Bearcats win a pair of convincing matches

TULSA, Okla.-The Northwest Missouri State men's tennis team collected a pair of convincing wins on Saturday as the Bearcats blanked Arkansas-Fort Smith 7-0 and defeated regional opponent Dallas Baptist 6-1.
In the first match of the day, Northwest got its fifth shutout victory of the season over Ark.-Fort Smith. Both Malcolm Harrison and Philip Hultquist earned 6-2 and 6-1 victories in singles play. Calvin Patterson and Vijit Sehgal also got victories in singles competition with 6-2 and 6-4 wins each.
The team of Patterson and Sehgal won their doubles match 8-4 while Hultquist and Giovanni Auricchio were victorious 8-5 in doubles play. Harrison and Daniel Quesada also picked up a doubles win with a 9-7 win.
Northwest (13-3) was equally impressive against Dallas Baptist in the second match of the day. Hultquist picked up a straight-sets victory while not dropping a game, winning 6-0 and 6-0. Quesada won his match 6-1, 6-1 and Auricchio and Harrison also picked up singles wins.
The doubles teams of Patterson and Sehgal and Harrison and Quesada won their matches 8-5 and 8-2, respectively in doubles competition.
Not all matches were played in both games due to time constraints.
