Bearcats shutout William Jewell
MARYVILLE, Mo.-The 19th-ranked Northwest Missouri State men's tennis squad shutout William Jewell on Monday evening 9-0 at the Frank Grube tennis courts. William Jewell is an NAIA program.
Malcolm Harrison and Vijit Sehgal dropped just three games each in their matches. Harrison, the 23rd-ranked player in the country won 6-1 and 6-2 while Sehgal was victorious 6-3 and 6-0.
Calvin Patterson won 6-1, 4-6 and 10-3. Giovanni Auricchio also had a three-set match for Northwest, (7-2) winning 3-6, 6-2 and 10-6. Philip Hultquist and Daniel Quesada also won their singles matches 6-2, 7-5 and 6-3, 6-2, respectively.
In doubles play, the duos of Patterson and Sehgal and Harrison and Quesada both won 8-4. While the team of Hultquist and Auricchio won their doubles match 8-2.
The Bearcats return to MIAA action on Tuesday afternoon as Northwest hosts Southwest Baptist beginning at 1 p.m. The match will be played alongside with the Bearcat women's team.
