Bearcats shutdown Union
MARYVILLE, Mo.-The 19th-ranked Northwest Missouri State men's tennis team won its third consecutive match on Wednesday afternoon as the Bearcats defeated nationally-ranked NAIA program Union College 7-2.
Despite losing his first set of the season, Northwest number one Malcolm Harrison improved to 6-0 on the year with a 4-6, 6-3 and 6-4 victory. Giovanni Auricchio was impressive in his victory for the Bearcats, winning 6-1 and 6-2.
Calvin Patterson, Vijit Sehgal and Daniel Quesada also picked up singles victories in the match for Northwest (5-1). The doubles teams of Patterson and Sehgal and the team of Auricchio and Harrison won two doubles competitions for the Bearcats.
Northwest begins MIAA play on Thursday as the Bearcats host Emporia State beginning at 3 p.m. The Bearcats will be playing a doubleheader alongside the Northwest women.
