Two in a row for Northwest tennis
MARYVILLE, Mo.-No. 19 Northwest Missouri State won four singles matches in straight sets en route to a 6-1 win against Southeastern Oklahoma State Sunday on the Frank Grube Courts. It's the second win in as many days for the Bearcats, who improved to 4-1 this season.
Northwest's Malcolm Harrison and Southeastern's Jose Argumedo were featured in a pair of highly-contested matches. Harrison trailed Argumedo 5-3 in the opening set of their singles match before Harrison won 10 straight games to earn the win. Harrison teamed with Vijit Sehgal to beat Argumedo and Sean Cobble 9-7 in doubles play.
Bearcats Calvin Patterson and Daniel Quesada earned an 8-0 win at number three doubles and Patterson defeated Cobble, 6-3, 6-2, at number two singles. Southeastern's lone point came at number two doubles. Singles matches five and six were not completed.
Northwest is currently in the middle of a schedule that includes nine matches in 12 days. Two of the off days come Monday and Tuesday before the Bearcats host Union at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
