Bearcats win big over Nebraska-Kearney
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-The 20th-ranked Northwest Missouri State men's tennis team improved its record to 2-0 on the year with a 8-1 victory against No. 49 Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday.
Northwest won all six singles matches against the Lopers (2-3) and five-of-six Bearcats won their matches in straight-sets.
Northwest number one Malcolm Harrison won 6-0 and 7-5 over Kearney's Josh Raymond. Calvin Patterson won his second match of the year with a 6-4, 7-6 victory. Vijit Sehgal won 6-4, 6-1. Daniel Quesada and Giovanni Auricchio each won their matches 6-2 and 6-2. Philip Hultquist won 3-6, 6-2 and 10-4.
Northwest won two-of-three doubles competitions. The 25th-ranked doubles team of Harrison and Sehgal defeated the 28th-ranked team of Raymond and Yeswanth Nadella 8-3. The team of Patterson and Quesada were victorious 8-4.
Northwest will next travel to St. Louis for a pair of matches this weekend. The Bearcats will face Washington University at 3 p.m. on Friday and will face Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Both matches will be doubleheaders with the women's team.
