Bearcats open season with sweep
MARYVILLE, Mo.-The 20th-ranked Northwest Missouri State men's tennis team got its spring season off to a big start on Tuesday afternoon as they made quick work of Missouri Valley, 9-0 on Frank Grube Courts. No Bearcat lost more than two sets in the match.
Reigning MIAA player of the year, Malcolm Harrison won 6-0, 6-2, while Calvin Patterson and Vijit Sehgal were victorious 6-1, 6-1 in their matches. Philip Hultquist, Daniel Quesada and Giovanni Auricchio also picked up their first victories of the season.
The doubles teams were also very successful. The team of Harrison and Sehgal won their match 8-2, while Patterson and Quesada also won 8-2.
The men will be in action again on Sunday along with the women as they host Nebraska-Kearney beginning at 10 a.m. from Frank Grube Courts.
