Final ITA Tennis Rankings Announced
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State's men's team is ranked 22nd and the women's team is 45th in the final tennis rankings released recently by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
In addition, Northwest's top singles player Malcolm Harrison finished with a national ranking of 39 in singles play (second in the South Central region). Harrison and Daniel Quesada, the Bearcats' top doubles duo, finished 37th in the national rankings (seventh in the region).
Northwest's men's team finished 22-5, won its first MIAA title since 2002 and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the 13th time in the last 16 seasons. Harrison was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player and finished with a 23-3 record in singles play. He and Quesada were 8-4 in doubles play after teaming late in the season.
Northwest's women finished 17-7 overall and 7-0 in conference play to win the league's regular season crown. The Bearcats were the runner-up at the conference tournament, a result that ended the program's string of consecutive NCAA tournament appearances at 15.
