Northwest Advances Past Cameron
AUSTIN, Texas-Northwest Missouri State swept three doubles matches en route to advancing past Cameron 5-2 Thursday in an NCAA first round match at South Austin Tennis Center. The Bearcats (22-4) will face top-seeded St. Edward's at 9 a.m. Friday for the right to advance to nationals and the final 16.
Northwest won two doubles matches 8-6 and another 8-5, then got singles victories from Vijit Seghal at number two and Calvin Patterson at number four. Sehgal defeated Carlos Viscarra 6-4, 6-4. Patterson beat Jorge Gerosi 6-4, 6-2. Northwest was leading one singles match and trailing in another when play ended.
Northwest and St. Edward's will meet for the second time this season. The Hilltoppers won a 5-3 decision in Dallas back on March 20.
