Bearcats Down Emporia State
EMPORIA, Kan.-The 21st-ranked Northwest Missouri State men's tennis team won its second straight MIAA match Saturday afternoon against Emporia State, as the Bearcats rolled to an 8-1 win. Northwest improves its record to 13-4 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA.
Northwest swept the singles competition in the match with 46th-ranked Malcolm Harrison snapping a two-match losing streak to win 6-3 and 6-1. Vijit Sehgal won 6-1 and 6-1 and Felipe Gennari was victorious in his match 6-1 and 6-2. Calvin Patterson, Ryan Westerhof and Giovanni Auricchio also won their singles matches.
Harrison and Raphael Oliveira defeated Emporia's Ryan Harris and Nick Steifer won their doubles match 8-3 and Gennari and Patterson were victorious 8-1 in Northwest's other doubles win. Westerhof and Sehgal were defeated 8-3 for Northwest's only loss of the day.
